Next week will be National Counselors Week. Find time to let Mrs. Stevens know how much you appreciate all she does. This will be the 5th Week of the Fourth Six-Weeks. Check student portal to make sure all of your assignments are turned in. With all the sickness making the rounds, to would be a good idea to make sure all make-up work has been turned in.
Here is the Miles Elementary Newsletter. We hope you have a great weekend and stay well. We have Mock STAAR testing next week. See the newsletter for details.

Good evening,
Miles ISD is monitoring the sickness that is going around. Currently our custodial staff has and will continue to disinfect all surfaces. I am working on a plan to have a company disinfect our campus at some point this week. Miles ISD admin will notify you on any further developments.

Numerous viruses seem to be hitting at the same time. Please help us keep everyone healthy. If your child has a fever they must stay at home. They should be 24 hours fever free without the use of fever reducing medications such as Ibuprofen before returning to school. Also encourage your children to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer. Make sure they are covering their cough. Encourage them not to share food or drinks.
Once a child returns to school they are allowed the number of days they were absent plus one to turn in make-up work. It is their responsibility to gather the work from their teachers. In certain circumstances an extension might be a possibility but you or your child should contact the teacher.
Reminder: We will dismiss at 2 p.m. today, January 24th, due to the City repairing a water main and shutting off all water at the school. Thank you
Miles ISD will release school at 2:00 on Friday, January 24, due to the City repairing a water main and all water at the school being shut off.
If you have questions please call me with your concerns.

Have a great weekend. This is the 3rd week of the six-weeks. It would be a good time to jump into parent portal to check for missing or low grades.

The MIles ISD Administration and Board recognized Jill Kellermeier at the board meeting on January 13, 2025. Mrs. K is a vital part of our school setting. She teaches various course in high school math as well as teaching Financial Literacy and a Scholarship class. Mrs. K continually pushes students to do their best. Coach Graves and Mrs. K both teach Algebra I where they conduct a "boot camp" starting 14 days before the STAAR test. This strategy has allowed students to excel on the Algebra I End of Course Exam. Mrs. K also helps with ACT test prep by having a crash course the night before the ACT test in order to give our students the best opportunity to accomplish a high score on the ACT. The ACT scores are very important in obtaining scholarships. Mrs. K also provides a mock interview for students during the months of November and December. She collects students interest and finds people in those fields to conduct interviews. You can also see Mrs. K on the tennis courts, at basketball games working the scoring table, stock shows, and anything that involves Miles kids! She is a vital part of our school community and we simply want to say thank you for all that you do! Great Job Mrs. K!!
Miles ISD recognized the 6th grade student council members at the board meeting on January 13, 2025: pictured are Presley Crow, Hattie Kalina, Josephine Fuchs, Sophie Glass, Heather Gulley, Madison Durham and Board President Roger Kalina. All of these young ladies are officers of the Student Council for Miles Elementary. Some of their duties are to run the Bulldog Store and to provide morning announcements each morning. We are extremely proud of these young ladies and their dedication to Miles ISD!!
For Board Appreciation, Mrs. Ernhart's Intro to Culinary Arts served our board and administrators a dinner for Board Appreciation Month. They served a Buffalo Chicken Wrap with pasta salad and peach cobbler and ice cream for dessert. This is a great opportunity for our students to showcase what they have learned in Culinary Arts Class! Great job!
